Bio: Mr. Loverde is a native of Chicago, was raised in Berkeley, and received a degree in Theater, Film, and Television from UCLA. He has written extensively for stage, screen, television, and radio.
Mr. Loverde’s screenplays include the children's fantasy "Chinchilla" for JAF Entertainment; the historical epic "Hoover Dam" and the romantic comedy "Till You Get to Baraboo" for Anna Maria Davis ("Fools Rush In") and AMD Productions; the historical saga "C.C. Julian" and the romantic comedy "Love at Second Bite" for George Hamilton; the drama "Red, White, and Blues" for director Mike Magidson; the children's fantasy "The Diamond in the Window" adapted from the novel by Newberry Award runner-up Jane Langton; the holiday comedy "Santa's Letters"; the film festival satire "Snacking" (based on Mr. Loverde's own zany experiences); the futuristic action thriller "CODEC"; the romantic comedy "Sweet Nothings"; the political drama "Real Power"; the romantic drama "Desire Sleeps", and the comedy "Cranky Call".
His stage comedies include "A Timely Maneuver"; "Beauty, Brains, and Personality"; "Good Business Sense"; "Jesus Awakens the Little Girl"; "The Killist"; "The Maginot Line"; "Mergers and Acquisitions"; "Peace and Quiet"; "Play How You Play"; "'How I Spent My Summer Vacation' by Bobby Sox Age 8"; "Power Plays"; "Sensitivity, USA"; "Till You Get To Baraboo"; "God Answers Children's Letters"; and "Uneasy Overture".
In 1996, Mr. Loverde's stage comedy "RSVP Regrets Only" was published by Oregon's Grimpenmire Press. Also in 1996, he directed a production of his comedy "Mergers and Acquisitions" in Santa Monica, California. The following year, "Mergers and Acquisitions" was produced at the Coronet Theater in Los Angeles with a cast that included Scott Wolf of TV's "Party of Five" and Taylor Nichols of the films "Metropolitan", "Barcelona", "Boiler Room", and TV's "The Mind of the Married Man".
In July, 1997, Mr. Loverde directed and appeared in a production of his comedy "The Maginot Line" in Santa Monica. The following November, Mr. Loverde directed a shortened version of his feature-length screenplay "Snacking" in Los Angeles. "Snacking" and Mr. Loverde's latest short comedy "Cranky Call" are currently making the film festival rounds and are also available for viewing at a number of fine Internet sites including Hollywood.com.
In 1998, Mr. Loverde's comedy "Good Business Sense" was included in the Ritz Theater Company of New Jersey's annual festival of one acts. Later that year, Mr. Loverde himself directed two productions of "Mergers and Acquisitions", one in Santa Monica and the other at the Hudson Backstage Theatre in Hollywood. "The Maginot Line" was produced at the Bitter Truth Theatre in North Hollywood, California in June and July, 1998.
Mr. Loverde's comedies "A Timely Maneuver", "Good Business Sense", and "The Maginot Line" are published by Playscripts.com, have sold hundreds of copies, and have received more than forty separate productions throughout the world.
His radio adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' "The Moon Maid", for which he received a commission from The Hollywood Theatre of the Ear, was broadcast twice on National Public Radio and is available on Audible.com. "The Moon Maid" starred Richard Kind of TV's "Spin City" and the late, great Avery Schreiber.
Other current projects include the film festival appearances of Mr. Loverde's feature film writing and directing debut feature "Santa's Letters" which has so far screened at the Burbank International Children’s Film Festival and the Bare Bones International Film Festival; a screenplay adaptation of "Mergers and Acquisitions" called "Sweet Nothings"; the development of a new TV comedy series called "One Plus One"; radio adaptations of his comedies "Power Plays" and "The Killist" by the One Act Theater Company of San Francisco; the debuts of two new plays "Till You Get To Baraboo” and "Beauty, Brains, and Personality"; the publication of a book of short stories entitled "Gifts for Good Friends" and a children's picture book called "Clawdette the Cat"; and a new production of "Power Plays" by Manhattan's Love Creek Productions.
Mr. Loverde is an accomplished painter and photographer with a number of best-selling works. He also has a deep and varied financial background including many years experience with the investment banking powerhouses Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Credit Suisse First Boston.
